Effective date: 22 October 2026
Applies to the DearPages app on Android (package com.dearpages.android.release) and the DearPages web app.
In short: DearPages helps you track the books you read, your reading sessions and the lines you highlight. We collect what's needed to run those features, sync your library if you sign in, process subscriptions, and understand crashes and usage. We don't sell your personal data. You can delete your account and all your data at any time from inside the app or by emailing us.
1. Who we are
DearPages is developed and operated by Mohd Raghib, based in India ("we", "us"). If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. You can optionally add a phone number and short bio to your profile.
- Your reading data. Books you add (title, author, ISBN, cover, page count, tags, status, ratings), reading sessions (date, duration, pages, and the mood and location label you choose, such as "Home" or "Café"), highlights and notes, reading goals, reminders and genre preferences.
- Photos you choose to use. When you scan a page or a barcode, or pick a photo from your gallery, the image is processed on your device to read the text or ISBN. We do not upload these photos. Custom book covers you add are stored with your library.
- Messages to us. If you email us for support or feedback, we receive your email address and what you send.
Information collected automatically
- App usage and diagnostics. Which screens and features are used, app version, device model, operating system version, crash reports and performance data.
- Device identifiers. App instance IDs, a push-notification token, and (where ads are shown) your device's advertising ID.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe to DearPages Plus, we receive your subscription status, plan and transaction identifiers. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your card or bank details.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, SMS or call logs. "Location" in reading sessions is only a label you pick.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the app: your shelf, reading sessions, streaks, highlights, insights and reminders.
- To back up and sync your library across devices when you're signed in.
- To look up book details (covers, descriptions, page counts) when you search or scan.
